Quadravox offers production services for recording customer data on any currently released ISD Chipcorder device, using Quadravox’s own QV400P gang programmers and appropriate adapters.

Procedure:

  • Data preparation:

Customer prepares the data using free data preparation software from Quadravox or using the QV400D prototyping tool (iQbox). Alternatively, Quadravox can prepare the project file based on customer wav files. The standard setup fee will then apply.

  • Data submission:

Customer submits the project file and wav files to Quadravox, along with “pre-production” chip(s). Alternatively, Quadravox can provide “pre-production” chips (but only of certain types).

  • Approval:

Quadravox programs “pre-production” chip & ships it to customer for approval of addresses, levels, etc. Customer approves the “pre-production” chip, releases the project for production and sends the devices to be programmed.

  • Programming:

Quadravox performs programming and testing and ships the chips at customer’s requested run rates.

Data preparation (by Customer):

  • QV400S:

- Customers without the QV400D or iQbox can download the data preparation software QV400S0 (for Windows 3.11) or QV400S1 (for Windows95 or 98) from the support section. These software packages are free and will allow the customer to prepare data for recording on our QV400P programmers.

- Customers who have the QV400D or iQbox can prepare the data using the “create table” function of this system. Please note that for projects using ISD4000 and ISD5008 devices, new firmware (2/19/99) and QV400S software is required.

- Customers then send the resulting project file (.qsd) and the .wav files to Quadravox for programming the pre-production chip for approval and subsequent setting up for production programming.

  •
  • Conversion from ISD format to QV format:

- Quadravox provides software packages to facilitate conversion of data generated by ISD’s SD101 or SD200 production programmers (.chp files) to the input files for the QV402P and QV401P respectively. These packages, qvoc2wav and qwav2wav, can be downloaded free of charge from the “support” section of this web site.

  •
  • Professionally Recorded Vocabulary Library:

There are more than 330 professionally recorded words in the vocabulary library covering a variety of applications listed below. Customers can download the zip files containing these words (in wav format) from support section of this web site, free of charge, and use them for their applications.

o                                English and Military alphabets (alphabet.zip, approx. 601 KBytes)

o                                Numbers (numbers.zip, approx. 1,263 KBytes)

o                                Date and time (time.zip, approx. 581 KBytes)

o                                Telephone (phone.zip, approx. 447 KBytes)

o                                Home automation (home.zip, approx. 1,528 KBytes)

o                                Instrumentation (instrum.zip, approx. 1,227 KBytes)

Data preparation by Quadravox:

  • Conversion from ISD format to QV format:

Customers can send the SD101 or SD200 data directly to us and we will convert the data free of charge as a part of the setup for a production programming order.

Production programming setup charge:

The setup charge for each new project is $100. This charge covers the programmation of the “pre-production” chip(s) and shipping it(them) to the customer for approval of addressing and levels. Quadravox will ship the “pre-production” chip(s) to the U.S. customers using standard overnight service (FedEx, UPS or Postal Service), at no extra cost. However, for overseas customers, there will be an additional charge for shipping, depending on the destination country.

Standard testing:

EOM placement testing, plus a brief audio output check for every device (see the QV400P manual for testing function details).

QRA:

Professional personnel.
Incoming and shipping inventory.
Labeled device carriers (tubes or trays).
Test statistics provided for each batch.
ESD protected environment.

Production programming:

  • Please contact Quadravox by telephone (1-972-669-4002), Fax (1-972-669-1905) or email (info@quadravox.com) for a quote on your production programming requirement.
  • Each project order is subject to a minimum $50 charge.
  • Devices are programmed with standard QV400P production programmers and are tested with the standard test routine. There may be additional cost for using a customized test set up or for performing more comprehensive testing.
  • The customer supplies the devices to be recorded and pays for shipping.

Large volume production programming:
Discounts are available for production volumes greater than 10,000 devices. However, certain issues need to be addressed before production programming is begun:

  • Total quantity and run rate (per week)
  • Sample testing requirement for monitoring quality level
  • Payment schedule: Quadravox bills as devices are shipped back.

Cycle Time:

  • Cycle time depends on who does data preparation, the project length, package type of the devices to be programmed, test requirement, etc. The following table is a guideline for cycle time based on:
    • Project duration 1 minute
    • Data preparation by customer
    • Device package type is 28-pin DIP
