QV531

The QV531 is a flexible audio output system capable of producing near-CD quality stereo sound on demand. Parallel and serial interfaces, as well as IR control, optional 22W amplifier, and support for up to 512MB of storage and 512 independent messages allow the QV531 to cover a wide range of applications. The default parallel interface implements thirteen active low triggers, but other functions are available.

The QV500 series playback modules use MP3 (MPEG I, layer 3) perceptual coding to reproduce sound at a variety of data rates and quality levels. At the standard music rate of 128000bps, the system can produce near-CD quality sound using approximately one megabyte of data per minute. The systems can also accept lower data rate and monaural files, so capacity can be extended if an application does not need the full capability for all sounds.

The QV531 can be ordered in a variety of configurations.
Part number designations are as follows:

QV531 - Bare board, 22w stereo output, no power supply
QV531L - Bare board, line-level output, no power supply
QV531S - Enclosed system, 22w Stereo output, power supply optional
QV531LS - Enclosed system, line-level output, power supply optional

Product Applications
Memory card based players have found use in applications requiring long play time, especially of high quality stereo sound, and/or frequent replacement of the content.

Actual applications of the QV531 and derivatives have been in museum displays, shipboard annunciators, fire training systems, theme park message systems, telecom central messaging systems, and even the famous Oscar-Mayer Wienermobiles!
